At Honeywell we have a passion for mathematics and we believe that every child can succeed in the subject. We aim to provide a challenging, motivating and ambitious curriculum that is inclusive for all children. Children at Honeywell become life –long mathematicians, able to utilize the skills taught throughout their lives.

Following the national curriculums guidance, we focus on:

Fluency- children become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics through frequent and varied practice.

Reasoning- children learn to give reasons and justifications for their answers by following lines of enquiry and using correct mathematical language to show proof.

Problem solving- children can solve increasingly challenging routine and non-routine problems.

We introduce varied and frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time, so that pupils develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately.   We want children to reason mathematically, solve problems and apply their mathematical knowledge to Science and other subjects. The subject includes strands in Number, Ratio and Proportion, Algebra, Measurement, Geometry and Statistics.
